This wedding was a glamorous and dramatic affair and we love both of these words when describing a wedding.  one of our favourite wedding planners Cristal Olivier events came to us with a beautiful couple that wanted to have a something different and unique styled wedding. 

Grand Connaught Rooms Wedding Decor

We work at a lot of venues around London and the UK and when we were told that this particular wedding was going to be held at the Grand Connaught rooms in London we were more than pleased as this to is one of our favourite venues because of its dramatic, grand and lavish appearance. 

The Venue is situated in the heart of the city, the nearest station is Holborn and from the outside the entrance is very discreet with little or no reference to what goes on behind the double entrance doors.  However if you do get to enter when you climb the dramatic staircase and reach the ballroom you are immediately faced with the elegant ceiling decor the the Fabulous chandeliers and the vast expanse of the space that can sit up to 800 guests.

The couple were a Ghanian pair that wanted to have a really beautiful and elegant design bringing in golds, ivories and mirror to the theme so we worked with the planner to come up with a design that would include all of these features.

Theme

Using black table cloths, gold chiavari chairs, ivory florals and excellent lighting were all used to create the final look which looked like this:

 When we design a wedding reception we like to focus on the key areas of the room which is the dance floor, the stage areas and the immediate areas outside areas.So the dramatic statement piece in the middle of the room is the large mirrored dance floor with logo which is naturally placed directly in front of the stage and in the heart of the room.

Dancefloor

 The dancefloors that we build are all custom-made and can only be used once, this is where the pricing of the dance floors are above the average price than that of your traditional LED dance floor.  It is more of an expense but it certainly makes much more of an impact so when guests arrive and for the first time see a mirrored dance floor it instantly makes everything a lavish affair.

Something a bit different about this wedding is the way we made the layout of the room. We made the dance floor on a diamond shape so on either corner of the Dance Floor we then placed our VIP tables or king tables.

VIP Tables

 These tables sat the couples Nearest and Dearest guests for the couple since they opted to have a sweetheart table which you can read about in our other blog post about sweetheart tables found here.

The Vip tables had gold Mirror Table Tops, Charger plates, Gold Cutlery and our gold Arabella Chairs

The Head Table

We brought in a stage and added some steps to the front  which is carpeted with brand new white carpet and the front finished with a matching gold fascia. We built our grass wall with custom text alongside a lavish table design of florals and matching arrangements as well as our gold mirrored table.

We used our floral bridges on the VIP tables and these really are a statement piece that stands out and all of our clients really love.

As the theme for this particular wedding was all ivory we kept the flowers ivory with lots of orchids and hydrangeas. We use spectacular silk artificial flowers  which enable us to provide amazing decor at a fraction of the price of fresh flowers.

Centrepieces

The centerpieces were mixed with other geometric style of lower centerpieces which were candles and an assortment of lower florals mixed in with dramatic statement pieces. This was the perfect combo for the large number of guests that our couple we’re going to have for their wedding.

We also used our statement orchid centerpiece which is a dramatic design which we use for the Special rectangle centrepieces.

The top-down diagram or image is the perfect explanation of the layout of the room and we absolutely adore this design.

Lighting

Lighting is an important feature for the decor in a wedding and we do provide that in-house also this wedding has our medium lighting package which includes plants moving heads up lights and a stage light. This is the minimum we would recommend for such a grand Venue.
